His honorable John Baird, senior business advisor of Bennett Jones, led a delegation to NFC on November 5th. Mr. Baird has held a variety of posts in Canadian government, including President of the Treasury Board, Minister of the Environment, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure & Communities and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
After visiting NFC showroom, the delegation met Mr. Wang Hongqian at VIP hall. Mr. Baird highly appraised NFC’s performance in international mining development and engineering contracting fields. In the past five years as foreign minister, he encouraged and brought about successful Chinese investment into Canadian energy and mining industries, realizing win-win results for participants of the two countries. The stronger pro-China stance taken by current Canadian government helps to uncover opportunities hidden in extended downturn in the international market of bulk commodities for competent Chinese enterprises. As a 100-year old commercial consulting firm with rich experience in energy & mineral industries and capital operation, Bennett Jones is confident in NFC and would like to extend their cooperation in North-American and global markets.
After retrospecting NFC’s friendship with Bennett Jones and Canada China Business Council (CCBC), as well as the cooperation with Canadian leading players like Alcan and SNC-Lavalin, Mr. Wang expressed NFC’s confidence and expectation to make substantial progress in Canadian market. He introduced that after decades of tempering in lean ores exploitation the utilization, Chinese capabilities on aspects of nonferrous metal mining, metallurgy and equipment manufacture have reached world-class level, making itself a highly cost-effective partner in international resource and EPC contracting projects. With the edge of a complete industrial chain and a flexible attitude to different cooperation manners, NFC is looking forward to develop North-American market with Bennett Jones.
